This movie is obviously somewhat derivative of the 80's Roger Corman classic "Humanoids from the Deep". But then that movie back in its day was excoriated for being a derivative, sexed-up version of "Creature from the Black Lagoon".
They Bite is a 1996 American science-fiction horror film directed by Brett Piper and starring Ron Jeremy, Nick Baldasare, Donna Frotscher, and Christina Veronica.. The film follows some of the premise covered in the Roger Corman film Humanoids from the Deep – sea creatures coming to shore and attacking and mating with humans, but also contains the idea of a film-within-a-film device.
Anthony Boucher. While I’m on the subject of Western horror…I mentioned Anthony Boucher’s “They Bite” in my review of Bone Tomahawk—not for the shared love of lopped off extremities or strange cannibal tribes or even the old tropes linked to the native dead and their burial grounds, but because of the real-world basis and enduring creepiness of each work’s monsters.

01 "They Bite" Luke Rutherford is an average teenager - until his dead father's best friend, Rupert Galvin, enters his life, and a small hideous creature attacks him. Galvin has come to tell Luke that he is the great-grandson of the legendary Abraham Van Helsing.
They Bite reminded me of a low-budget, bad-taste, satirical Humanoids from the Deep with a lot of religious-right brow-beating. Women in the movie who are not interested in wet t-shirt contests or being in porno are straight-up bitches! At least that's the butt of most of the jokes.
But they’ll usually bite areas of skin that are exposed while you sleep, such as your face, neck, arms, and hands. In some cases, the bites may develop into fluid-filled blisters.
