Find Out About The Arrival of Wang
However, The Arrival of Wang is a film worth seeing. I've seen much worse mainstream films and at least it's never boring. It offers something different and it always had me interested. The final line of dialogue also hit me quite hard. It's a great ending which leaves you with something to ponder about.

Inspired by sci-fi classics such as The Twilight Zone, V and The X-Files, directors Marco and Antonio Manetti keep you on the edge of your seat with The Arrival of Wang. An Italian cult classic, it tells the story of an interpreter taken to a secret location by a mysterious government agency.

The Arrival of Wang, a high-concept sci-fi chamber piece from Italian filmmakers the Manetti brothers, had so much potential but was repeatedly squandered by its poor execution. The film’s premise is ripe with possibility as an interpreter is asked to translate the top secret interrogation of a Mandarin-speaking extraterrestrial.

The Arrival of Wang. Andrew Osmond reviews a wangtastic sci-fi film. The main character in this plucky little SF drama belongs to a profession that anyone reading this blog should cheer. Gaia, a young woman living in Rome, is a translator of Asian media. Specifically she’s a Chinese speaker, who’s subtitling a film at home when the phone rings.

The Arrival of Wang Reminiscent of an overextended "Twilight Zone" episode but still good for a laugh, Italian low-budgeter "The Arrival of Wang" works through an amusing sci-fi premise.

Only upon seeing Wang, does Gaia realise why the job has come with so much mystery and subterfuge. And that she may be in way over her head… "The Arrival of Wang is that rare beast in modern genre cinema – a film which works on multiple levels and is more than just the sum of its parts. Essential viewing!" - Blogomatic 3000

The Arrival of Wang‘s most obvious comparison is with The Day the Earth Stood Still, the latter being more effective in that it doesn’t revolve on a well-rendered and realistic but ultimately not that convincing special effect.

"The Arrival of Wang" would have made Ed Wood proud. It could have been such a great film, but the over-the-top NSACIA-type interrogator character (minor spoiler coming) repeated his questions to extraterrestrial Mr. Wang over and over and in such a campy manner that all suspension of disbelief was sucked into that downdraft.
